Use Lawn and Garden Equipment Safely

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is urging people to use caution and common sense when tending to their lawns and gardens. CPSC data show that annually about 400,000 people are treated in hospital emergency rooms for injuries from lawn and garden tools. Also, each year about 25,300 people are injured and 75 people are killed on or near riding lawnmowers and garden tractors. One out of every five deaths involves a child. CPSC estimates that most of the deaths to children occurred when a child was in the path of a moving mower. See their recommendations for preventing injuries from lawn and garden equipment.
