Current Trends in Kitchen Designs

When it comes to “most wanted” features in a home, an updated kitchen tops the list for many buyers. Here’s a look at three emerging trends in kitchen design.

Going gray

Although white and off-white remain classic choices for kitchens, these days you’ll find shades of gray used as accents in mosaic tiled backsplashes or even for floors, countertops and cabinets. It’s a nice neutral color that complements a wide variety of décors, and it can be found in a variety of materials, from rustic aged wood to quartz and granite.

LED lighting

Stylish, contemporary and energy-efficient, LED lighting has found its way into many new kitchens. Thanks to new technology, you’ll find LED lights in some surprising places, like inside kitchen drawers and cabinets and in dimmable ceiling light fixtures. Creative designers are even putting LEDs beneath glass countertops for dramatic new looks.

Hands-free faucets

Motion-activated faucets have long been common in commercial restrooms. Now, that same technology is becoming popular in kitchen renovations, thanks to attractive new fixtures. Not only do they add a unique, modern flair, but they also prevent the spread of germs and require less frequent cleaning.
