Home Energy Saving Tips

September - 2013

1. Install Dimmer Switches: Not ready to say goodbye to incandecent bulbs? Then concider that simply dimming a light by 10% can double the life of the lightbulb!

2. Add a Motion Sensor: Add a motion sensor to your outdoor lighting fixtures. One of these little helpers will turn off the light when no one is present. The gizmos are great for seldom used areas of the home, such as a basement or a guest room.

3. Set a Programable Thermostat:This handy item can save almost $200 a year by turning down the heat at certain times of the day. For every degree that you lower your thermostat for an 8 hour period, you cut energy use by 1%. Just by setting it back 10 degrees overnight you can save 10%!
